Electric Vibrator Troubleshooting

An unusual sound (pounding) coming from the vibrator usually means that the mounting is cracked or the vibrator bolts have loosened.

If vibrator doesn’t start:

  1. Check overload protection for tripped circuit breaker or burned out fuses.
  2. Check to see that all wiring leads are hot.
  3. Check rotor for free movement by removing the end cap, if the vibrator is free, then smell inside the end to see if the motor is burned.

If the motor starter repeatedly shuts vibrator off:

  1. Check vibrator mounting bolts for tightness.
  2. Check structure.
    1. Older installation, look for cracked mounting cracked welds, repair and reinforce immediately.
    2. Check motor starter to be sure it isn’t in an area of high ambient temperature (above 120 degrees Fahrenheit). If so, consult dealer or factory.
